Accumulators

Fluids can't store pressure energy due to their incompressibility, so hydraulic accumulators use gas compressibility instead. HYDAC’s diaphragm accumulators rely on nitrogen as the compressible medium. They contain separate fluid and gas sections, divided by a gas-proof diaphragm. As system pressure rises, fluid enters the accumulator and compresses the nitrogen. When pressure drops, the nitrogen expands, pushing fluid back into the circuit. A valve poppet at the base of the diaphragm closes the outlet when empty, preventing damage. This reliable, responsive design enables efficient energy storage and pressure stabilization in hydraulic systems.
