The Case IH LB 424 XL
The Big Pack Demo Day, held on October 28th, offered

The Big Pack Demo Day, held on October 28th, offered an exciting opportunity for farmers in the Northern Cape to experience the latest advancements in high-density baling technology. Farmers gathered to witness the impressive Case IH LB 436 HD large square baler in action—a machine known for its unmatched efficiency, advanced features, and high productivity.
The Case IH LB 424 XL Series large balers represent a leap forward in baling technology, combining enhanced productivity, durability, and ease of use across four versatile models. With a bale dimension of 120x70 cm, the LB 424 XL is designed to cater to a variety of crop types and farming operations.
A minimum PTO power requirement of 130 hp and pick-up width of 2.23 meters flare-to-flare (2.046 meters tine-to-tine) ensure these machines meet the demands of modern agriculture with efficiency and power.
This new generation of LB balers, featuring the LB 424 XL and LB 434 XL, has been designed for superior performance. Case IH has revisited every component, from the pick-up to the knotters, to optimize both durability and productivity. One key advancement is the TwinePro knotter system, which ensures high-strength loop knots/Deering knots that prevent offcuts, reduce environmental impact, and improve forage quality.

The LB 424 XL and LB 434 XL models provide more space for operators, with a wider body that reduces crop buildup and creates room around the service platform. Despite this added width, these balers maintain a transport-friendly size, staying under 3 meters wide. Equipped with LED work lights, they offer excellent visibility, making operation smooth even in low-light conditions.
With the capability to handle diverse crops, the LB Series produces uniformly shaped bales thanks to its extended bale chamber, enhancing density and uniformity. Operators can easily adjust bale density from the tractor seat using the AFS monitor, enabling optimal performance across varying conditions. The LB-series baler is ISOBUS compatible baler and will work through most ISOBUS systems. Additionally, the double knotter system, known for its reliability, now includes 3 fans that will blow the knotters clean every time a knotting cycle occurs.
Safety and soil protection is a priority in the LB 424 XL Series, which includes a robust suspension and a choice of tires suitable for both fieldwork and transport. The option of single or tandem axle configurations, with a steered rear axle, reduces soil compression and supports healthy crop regrowth.
Equipped with floating pick-ups that span up to 2.23 meters, the LB Series handles even the heaviest, widest swaths with ease, ensuring high-quality feed for storage or use. Adjustable flotation springs and large gauge wheels add to the machine’s adaptability, providing smooth and efficient operation across crop types.
Designed with low maintenance in mind, the LB 424 XL Series features high-opening panels supported by gas cylinders for easy access to key components. Storage compartments accommodate up to 32 twine balls, enabling extended work sessions with minimal downtime. This focus on durability and ease of use makes the LB 424 XL Series an essential tool for any producer or contractor seeking top performance, productivity, and longevity in a baler.
With advancements across all components, the LB 424 XL Series is ready to exceed expectations in capacity, reliability, and user-friendliness, setting a new standard in high-density baling.
